Aloha and welcome to readers that might be new to the Horns of Jericho blog. To those of you are up to speed, much of what is covered here is old hat. This blog is intended as a resource to people of faith in Hawaii who are looking to be engaged with the political process and have their voice heard. The Hawaii State Legislature can be daunting to someone who is very new to the legislative process. Additionally, the burden of keeping tabs on more than three thousand bills can be time consuming.
Whatever your legislative experience is, hopefully you will be able to use this blog as a launching pad to becoming involved in the law-making process. Whether you have 5 minutes, 50 minutes or 5 hours to devote to this pursuit, it IS possible to be engaged, and to have your voice heard.
The 2015 Bill Tracker is still a work-in-progress. It will take a couple of days to put together a list of bills that might be of interest to people of faith. Please understand that the list is a recommendation, and you should use it accordingly. If one category of bills (such as “ethics” or “fiscal responsibility”) does not suit your goals, you should feel free to look past it. Faith is something that is personal – and one’s faith will dictate how involved one person or another will be. While I hope that YOU will find the information and resources you need on this site, I hope you will understand that as a blogger I am attempting be accessible to as many people as possible.
While you are free to come back here every day to check for updates, I recommend subscribing via email or via RSS feed using the boxes to the right so that you get updates as they are available. It is unfortunate that there is only 48 hours notice when a bill will receive a hearing. Using the email or the RSS options, it is very easy to get up-to-the-minute updates on these bills as they are available.
